Wednesday, April 24, 2019
7:30 p.m. in the Fleming Theatre

Doors open at 7:15 p.m.

Please join us as we welcome our next speaker, TASIS’ very own basketball coach Alex Owumi.

Alex Owumi was born in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to the US with his family at age 11.  One of seven children, he graduated from Alcorn State University in 2008. While at Alcorn State, he was twice named MVP of the basketball team and served as team captain his senior year. Unclaimed in the 2008 NBA draft, Owumi followed his dream of being a professional basketball player first in France, and later in the US minor leagues, Macedonia, Libya, Egypt, and most recently England. He is the author of “Qaddafi's Point Guard: The Incredible Story of a Professional Basketball Player Trapped in Libya's Civil War.”

All students 8 years of age and older, parents, faculty, and staff are welcome to join us for this free event. As this is an open event, there is no need to sign in with Security, however, we ask that you make your way directly to and from the Fleming Theatre.
