The Middle School Play

A three-act play or musical is produced in the fall. Open auditions are held early in the school year, and students who sign up to be part of the cast or crew make an intensive time commitment. Rehearsals take place three times a week after school: twice a week for fifth and sixth grade participants and three times a week for seventh and eighth grade participants.

Field Trips and Travel

Throughout the school year, the Middle School plans field trips which are related to the curriculum, and which also provide ways of socializing with friends. In September a “bonding” day offers fun ways for new and returning students to get to know each other. Additional trips include a fall and spring field trip day for the whole Middle School, a dinner and theatre trip for each grade, as well course-related trips that teachers may plan. All fifth grade students attend an environmental study course for 4-5 days with their teachers at the end of the school year.

The School’s ideal location gives easy access to London, sites throughout the UK of historical and cultural significance, and to Europe. During the October Break, students in Grades 5–8 may participate in the October Travel Program, which is chaperoned by TASIS teachers. These trips are generally held in the UK and often involve outdoor pursuits. Over February Break, a ski trip abroad may be organized by the School, provided there is sufficient interest. Students in Grades 6-8 who take French or Spanish will be invited to take part in trips to France or Spain. During the spring holiday, a trip to Greece is often offered. Students may participate in these trips on a space-available basis at extra cost.
