Posted 18/05/2016 02:55PM
The annual Middle School Speech Contest Final took place on Wednesday, May 18, in the Fleming Theatre. Thirteen finalists – four each from Grades 6 and 7 and five from Grade 8 – participated in the event, delivering speeches 3 minutes in length following various topics. TASIS England's Headmaster, Dr. Mindy Hong, served as a judge in the competition and described the presentations as polished and impressive.

The Sixth graders were tasked with delivering informative speeches, 7th graders wrote reflective (memoir) speeches, and 8th graders gave persuasive speeches. Each student performed their speech for an audience comprised of Middle School students, parents, faculty, staff, and a panel of 8 judges inside the Fleming Theatre. Judging was based on purpose, organization, style/fluency, and delivery.
“The finalists made incredibly accomplished speeches – all were of winning calibre,” said Middle School Head, Debi Cross.
Those who took away the trophies were: 6th grader, Chung Sze, with "Inflated Job Titles"; 7th grader, Blythe, with "Perfectly Blank Photographs"; and 8th grader, Josh, with "America’s Greatest Pastime."
Congratulations to the winners and to all the other finalists for a job well done. VIEW GALLERY
