A crew from BBC Scotland visited TASIS England today to film footage for an upcoming documentary on Abraham Lincoln.
Filming began in the Lower School, where kindergarten students were coloring flags in their art class. Fourth graders had done research on Lincoln’s life and shared what they had learned, including when he was born, where he lived, and why he is an such an important person in history. First graders also talked about facts they had learned about Lincoln, before reciting the Pledge of Allegiance with giant smiles and hands over their hearts. Fifth grade history buffs, Tom. C and Spencer. M impressed the director with multiple Lincoln facts at an interview in their classroom. Further footage was taken at fifth grade choir practice, where students sang Yankee Doodle Dandy.
To conclude filming, director Lesley Smith had an insightful interview with upper school teacher Dr. Lander, who has written a book titled Lincoln and Darwin: Shared Visions of Race, Science, and Religion, which was published in 2010.
Happy Birthday Abraham Lincoln: A Culture Show Special will air at 11:20 pm on Tuesday, February 12th.
