News from TASIS England
During the week of November 18, TASIS College Counselors Elizabeth Mohr, Jonathan Werkmeister, and Chantal Gordon traveled to Spain to attend the CIS Global Forum on University Admissions in Bilbao. The CIS Forum allowed both school guidance counselors and over 300 university admissions officers to meet and discuss how to best support students as they make their transition from school to university.
The TASIS England team was able to attend a number of sessions in which school counselors and admissions officers shared their expertise and knowledge on the latest admission processes and global trends in international student recruitment. In addition to gaining powerful insights into the current state of university admissions, the team was able to promote TASIS to a number of colleges and universities during the conference’s School Fair and to liaise with certain colleges to discuss individual applications for current seniors. This face-to-face time is invaluable for our students' and our college counselors' learning journeys.
Mr. Werkmeister was also able to visit the University of Navarra in Pamplona and Esade Business School in Barcelona to learn more about their individual programs and unique opportunities for future TASIS graduates.
Ms. Mohr was invited to attend a Marist Florence counselor event that included a tour of the Marist Florence campus and learning in-depth knowledge about campuses in New York and Florence, as well as the Dublin Freshman and Marist NYC experiences. The personal approach, connection to industries for meaningful internships, and range of student experiences make it clear why Marist is one of the 50 universities selected by The Princeton Review as a "College That Create Futures."
These additional university visits attended by Mr. Werkmeister and Ms. Mohr in Spain and Italy were critical to gathering information and forming closer contacts with top-tier universities in the ever-changing landscape of university admissions.
