About TASIS:

Located in a rural setting in the small village of Thorpe, Surrey, TASIS The American School in England, is an international school for students from Nursery through Grade 12 (ages 3 to 18). We are a day school for students of all ages, and offer boarding in our Upper School (Grades 9 to 12, ages 14 to 18). Throughout all grades we teach a content-rich curriculum which enables students to develop broad knowledge across Science, History, Foreign Languages, the Humanities, Arts, and the core subjects of English and Math, as well as developing physical, emotional and social skills, and literacy. In our Upper School we offer students either the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program or the American High School diploma, with the option of additional Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

Head of Boarding

Reporting to the Head of School and serving on the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Boarding will provide the strategic leadership of the TASIS England boarding program.

The Head of Boarding will drive the mission of the boarding program to safeguard and support the well-being of each boarding student by meeting and exceeding National Minimum Standards (NMS); and promoting multiple pathways for their learning to gain independence, responsibility, respect and resilience through engaging in our residential experience and developing life-long relationships and shared experiences.

This is a full time, permanent position which will not include teaching or house parent responsibility.

Candidate Profile

  • Substantial experience and knowledge of working with young people in a residential setting
  • Dedicated to safeguarding children and young people
  • Proven line management and house parent experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and technological)
  • Understanding of and commitment to diversity and cultural differences
  • Highly professional approach and ability to engage positively with students, colleagues and parents
  • Idealistic in aspirations for the future of young residential learners
