Visual Arts

The TASIS England Art Department provides an inspirational environment. Under the guidance of our specialist teachers, every student can explore the visual arts as part of their bespoke learning journey, which is further enriched by the variety of courses we offer. General-purpose studios are supplemented by classrooms for specific uses, including:

  • One dedicated to three-dimensional work with two kilns
  • One for multimedia, including iMacs equipped with current InDesign and Photoshop packages
  • One for printmaking

Members of the art faculty provide their expertise in a number of disciplines to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Upper School students have the option to study IB Visual Arts (HL or SL) or Advanced Placement Art History. Both courses are externally examined, rigorous, and rewarding. A wide range of courses is offered in addition to those examined, adding to strength of the department.

Students of all ages are also given the opportunity to visit art galleries and engage directly with visiting artists through gallery talks, presentations, and practical workshops that enhance their learning experience. Each year, we organize a number of exhibitions on our campus, including the All-School Art Exhibition that showcases the creative work of Lower, Middle, and Upper School students.

Upper School Options

Upper School students can study art history as well as take hands-on courses such as drawing and painting, ceramics, and photography. They also have the opportunity to deepen their studies through the following externally examined courses:
