TASIS - The American School In England TASIS - The American School In England

Curriculum

The variety of TASIS England’s course offerings allow students to personalize their learning, choosing between the American high school diploma, with the potential for Advanced Placement Courses (AP), or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Students are well-prepared and qualified for universities and colleges in the US, UK, and worldwide.

Throughout Upper School, the core subjects (English, history, mathematics, science, and foreign languages) are complemented by the arts, humanities, and physical education. We prepare our students for the challenges and opportunities of the future by recognizing each individual's unique strengths, interests, and skills. For the final two years in the Upper School, students follow one of two pathways:

  • the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, a comprehensive two-year program that encourages critical thinking, research skills, and service as part of the learning process; or
  • the college-preparatory curriculum enhanced by a wide choice of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and culminating in the American High School Diploma. Students following this curriculum may also take some IB classes on a stand-alone basis as a certificate course.

Both diplomas are widely accepted by universities and colleges around the world. Whichever curriculum they follow, our students are well prepared for a successful transition to further education.

My older son joined TASIS for his final year from overseas. As you can imagine changing schools at such a time could have been a disaster but nothing could have been further from the truth. He fitted in straight away, took challenging courses and did extremely well.
