Safeguarding

TASIS England is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of all children.

TASIS The American School in England recognizes that it is our duty and desire to ensure arrangements are in place for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We will carry out this duty through our teaching and learning, pastoral care, extended school activities, and daily site management. Our aims are prevention, protection, and support for all members of our school community, and this applies to all pupils, parents, staff, governors, volunteers, and visitors.

It is expected that our children will, at all times, flourish in a safe and stimulating environment; they should feel safe and secure and encouraged to relate to trusted adults. We will endeavor to provide activities and opportunities that will equip our students with the skills they need to stay safe. This will also be extended to include material that will encourage our children to develop essential life skills.

The best interests of the children will always be our priority. As such, there are times we may need to record, monitor, share information, and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child or young person’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our students are discussed with their parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child or young person’s welfare.

SAFEGUARDING IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY

TASIS England has a Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place, which all staff (including supply staff, volunteers, and governors) must ensure that they have read and understood. Parents, carers, and students also have access to our policy on the school website.

TASIS England’s safeguarding team includes the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), five Deputy DSLs, the online safety coordinator, the Head of School, and the Chairman of the Board, all of whom have carried out the appropriate training. Our DSL is Jason Tait. The contact details of the safeguarding team are available via the School’s LMS pages and on posters that are on display around the campus. If you have any safeguarding questions or concerns, please email dsl@tasisengland.org

HOW YOU CAN PLAY YOUR PART

Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility and parents and carers can also play their part. If you have any concerns about a child or adult member of our community, no matter how small, you should report them to someone who you trust will listen, including any member of the safeguarding team, a teacher, or the Head of Section.

All children have a right to be cared for and protected. Safeguarding is an essential part of our holistic approach to providing a secure and supportive environment in which every child is protected from harm and can flourish and grow into compassionate, principled and open-minded members of our school community.
