TASIS Swim Team Shows Strength and Determination

TASIS England swim team celebrates an amazing season so far.

It has been a fantastic season for the TASIS swim team. The small but dedicated group of student-athletes was led by Coach Matt Tuff. They showed strength and determination throughout the season.

On January 18th, three of the TASIS athletes competed at ASL with great results for both competitive and social swimmers. They were all very strong and pushed the other teams throughout the meet. Specific times include:

  • Julia K competed in 100m IM where she won her heat comfortably in a time of 1.16.11. She placed 2nd in the 100m Butterfly and first in her heat for 100m Breaststroke. Her time was 1.24.9. Julia is a star!

  • James S competed in 100m Freestyle 1.35.72, 50m Backstroke 43.89, 50m Freestyle 37.67. Great swimming from James who learned a lot from the experience and really enjoyed it.

  • Thomas S competed in 50m Backstroke in a time of 30.67 a 1 second PB, 100m Butterfly in a time of 1.06.46 2 second PB, 50m Butterfly 29.35 1 second PB. Thomas was really focused and challenged himself for every race.

For those students thinking of joining the swim team the message is simple: it keeps you fit and healthy and there is no risk in coming along to a future session to see if it is for you! Swimming is very adaptable and as Coach Matt says, “you don’t just have to smash up and down the pool, you can also do specific skills while others are doing training sets.” What better way to do relays as a team and get that feeling of being part of that winning team! Go Royals!
