On Saturday, March 15, our Varsity Lacrosse team attended the Rendcomb College Invitational Tournament in the Cotswolds and are very pleased to have come in second place.
This report was written by Emma, a member of TASIS England's Varsity Lacrosse team for 2024-25:
A Lacrosse team is made up of 10 players. On the day of the tournament, only nine players were available, but we went ahead to face the challenge anyway. Thankfully, Rendcomb College kindly loaned us a player so that we had enough to field a team (with no substitutes). Through a challenging series of four back-to-back matches in the morning, TASIS England managed to reach the semifinals, advancing from the group stage by having a better goal difference than the other teams who were tied on points.
The Royals went on to win the semifinal match and advanced through to the final against the host school, Rendcomb. Despite our collective fatigue and facing a team who seemed to have an endless amount of subs, we put up an impressive fight and played with incredible strength and dedication. Our goalie, Lila, held a strong goal line with a stellar performance, something that was commented on by players on many of the other teams. The defence was marshaled incredibly well by Blythe, Valentina, and Harper. Emma, Keira, and Pippa worked tirelessly up and down the pitch in midfield, defending and scoring as needed. In advanced attacking positions, Alice, Maha, and our stand-in from Rencomb (Amelie) fought hard to put pressure on the defenders and score. Throughout the day, TASIS England managed to score a total of 19 goals. Scorers were Alice, Pippa, Emma, Keira, and Harper.
The team were sad to miss the presence of TASIS England seniors Cam and Lucy for this tournament, but their dedication throughout the season has been priceless. Indeed, this particular tournament marked the end of a record-breaking season for TASIS England Lacrosse. The majority of the team has been playing together since Middle School and have gone through many challenges along the way; we are very proud but sad to see so many of them graduating this year. Best of luck to Alice, Blythe, Cam, Emma, Harper, Keira, Lucy, and Valentina in their future endeavors!
We would also like to give a massive thank you to our head coach, Mr. Dallas, and additional coaches, Coach Porcher and Coach Bath, for their amazing support throughout the season. We truly could not have done it without their expertise and encouragement. We would also like to thank the parents and family members who have provided the team with such fantastic support throughout the season.
We wish the best of luck to TASIS England Lacrosse in the years to come.
