We are celebrating the recognition of another of our TASIS teachers for the significant role he plays in the academic lives of his students.
On April 23, 2020, the Board of Education and Naperville School District 203 in Illinois was to host its annual Excellence in Education Banquet. This annual event provides an opportunity to recognize seniors who have distinguished themselves academically, and former TASIS England student Katie was chosen for this distinction.
While the pandemic’s impact meant the event could not go ahead as planned, the selected students were asked to nominate an educator who has inspired them academically and made an impact on their lives. Mr. Bagley, Middle School History and PSHE teacher, was named for this prestigious award by Katie, who attended TASIS from Grades 4 to 6 (2011-14).
Katie said, “In Middle School, it’s easy to complete the bare minimum, but Mr. Bagley always encouraged me to learn new things, think differently, and test my cognitive limits, even where there wasn’t a separate honor track to challenge myself. He helped cultivate the passion for learning that I have today.”
Mr. Bagley, who received his Award Certificate last week, taught Katie when she was in sixth grade. He told us, “It is an amazing honor to be recognized for this award, and a huge thank you to Katie for the nomination and to TASIS for being such a loving, supportive, and inspiring place to work. I’m just starting my 16th year here, and it’s the high quality of the students and my colleagues alike that keeps me coming back year after year. I’m very proud to be a faculty member here.”
Well done to Mr. Bagley for playing his part in making a real difference to our students’ learning journeys.
