Helping to Spread the Joy of the Season

Helping to Spread the Joy of the Season

In recent weeks, students Valeria, Natalia, and Eva (Grade 10) and Ipek and Dilay (Grade 11) have worked hard to coordinate the "Stuff a Stocking" efforts in the Upper School – with amazingly successful results!

The stockings will be distributed by the Runnymede Foodbank, which serves families local to our school. The students learned about the project through TASIS parent Shannon Banks, whose company is sponsoring a campaign to bring the magic of the holidays to children around the world.

Along with educating the Upper School community about the work of the Runnymede Foodbank in addressing hunger and poverty in the local community, the student coordinators created advertising and oversaw the distribution and collection of stockings from students, faculty, Advisories, and Boarding Houses.

The generosity of all those involved in the student, faculty, and parent communities, has resulted in 250 stockings full of toys, clothes, books, toiletries, and crafts. Working in collaboration with Mrs. Banks, TASIS parent Anna Muldner-Panowicz and alumni parent Patty Ryan made several trips to collect the stockings and deliver them to the Runnymede Foodbank for distribution to families in need over the holiday period. Our thanks go to all who contributed to this very worthy cause!

Each year, Runnymede Foodbank delivers Christmas Hampers to people in crisis across Surrey. In 2020, the Foodbank supported 220 families. We are proud to assist the Foodbank to ensure the children from these families receive a stocking alongside this gift of food.
