Preparing for TEDx TASIS England Youth – Pioneers of Tomorrow

Preparing for TEDx TASIS England Youth – Pioneers of Tomorrow

We are thrilled to share that preparations are well underway for TEDx TASIS England Youth, an exclusive invite-only event on April 29, 2025, in the Fleming Theatre.

Under the theme “Pioneers of Tomorrow,” this event will feature inspiring talks from TASIS England students across Lower, Middle, and Upper School, parents from our community, plus staff and faculty, celebrating innovation, leadership, and ideas that will shape the future.

With just 100 invited attendees, TEDx TASIS England Youth will be an intimate and thought-provoking evening, offering a space for engagement, meaningful connections, and powerful storytelling. It is a true reflection of our mission – nurturing lifelong learners who are compassionate, principled, and open-minded as they explore new pathways and ideas.

A Student-Led Initiative
What makes this event even more special is the dedicated team of 10 students and three teachers working behind the scenes to bring this vision to life. Meeting weekly in the Salon and giving up their lunch breaks, they embrace the challenge of planning, problem-solving, and leading with purpose – a true example of service leadership in action.

  • Project Manager: Aleks (Grade 11) is leading the overall coordination, ensuring everything stays on track.
  • TEDx Organiser: Dr. Megel Barker (Head of Middle School) will provide guidance and oversight.
  • Supporting Teachers: Dr. Norris and Mrs. Clench will mentor the student organizers as they take on this exciting challenge.

How It All Comes Together
To manage every aspect of the event, the team is divided into key committees:

Guest Relations Committee
Led by Noor (Grade 10) and Max (Grade 12), this team is ensuring a welcoming, professional, and engaging experience for our invited guests, from RSVPs to event-day hospitality.

Speakers Committee
Led by Milana (Grade 10) and Cristobal (Grade 11), this group is supporting speakers by helping them refine their ideas, build confidence, and communicate with impact.

Logistics Committee
Led by Neo (Grade 9), Conor (Grade 10), and Boston (Grade 9), this team is responsible for stage set-up, lighting, sound, and ensuring a seamless experience on the day of the event.

Marketing Committee
Led by Grigorios (Grade 11) and Amina (Grade 10), this team is building excitement, sharing the TEDx vision, and encouraging engagement across our community.

Final Preparations and Rehearsals
With April 2 set as our official rehearsal date, our speakers are fine-tuning their messages, working on delivery, and preparing to step onto the TEDx stage with confidence and purpose. The organizing team is ensuring that every detail aligns with our commitment to excellence, international-mindedness, and the celebration of diverse perspectives.

A Celebration of Our Community
TEDx TASIS England Youth is more than just an event – it is a reflection of who we are as a learning community. It highlights the importance of lifelong learning, the courage to explore new pathways, and the power of open-minded conversations that inspire change. It is also an opportunity for parents to be part of this inspiring journey, whether as speakers or as valued members of our audience.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED
TED is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to discovering, debating and spreading ideas that spark conversation, deepen understanding and drive meaningful change. Our organization is devoted to curiosity, reason, wonder and the pursuit of knowledge — without an agenda. We welcome people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world and connection with others, and we invite everyone to engage with ideas and activate them in your community.

TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but today it spans a multitude of worldwide communities and initiatives exploring everything from science and business to education, arts and global issues. In addition to the TED Talks curated from our annual conferences and published on TED.com, we produce original podcastsshort video seriesanimated educational lessons (TED-Ed) and TV programs that are translated into more than 100 languages and distributed via partnerships around the world. Each year, thousands of independently run TEDx events bring people together to share ideas and bridge divides in communities on every continent. Through the Audacious Project, TED has helped catalyze more than $3 billion in funding for projects that seek to make the world more beautiful, sustainable and just. In 2020, TED launched Countdown, an initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis and mobilize a movement for a net-zero future, and in 2023 TED launched TED Democracy to spark a new kind of conversation focused on realistic pathways towards a more vibrant and equitable future.
