On September 29 the TASIS England community celebrated the work of artist and TE Alumna Georgie Stabler ’12 with a reception hosted by the Art Department.
Georgina graduated this spring from Oxford Brookes University with a BA (Hons) degree in Interior Architecture. As this year’s Alumni Visiting Artist, she’ll be on campus in October, working with students from the Visual Art and Humanities classes. Her Fleming Gallery exhibition, The Space Between: Architecture and Furniture, features a series of innovative and compelling projects from her course work at Oxford Brookes. The show focuses on the importance of problem solving in the design process, allowing viewers to follow the evolution and development of the designer’s ideas.
Georgie commented on her exhibition:
“The body of work on display is representative of studies undertaken in the process of design for a number of interior architecture projects I have been involved in. My style of design reflects my belief that design must be a guiding force behind society, yet it must do so in a way to be almost invisible to the user.”
Head of Art, Mr. Smalley, introduced Georgie on Tuesday with a rapturous appraisal of her work:
“Georgie has an historical perspective in her work, and she has brought that to bear, to work with her imagination. There are many examples of her interests around the room, including natural processes, how things work in nature, and structures in nature, which all work together to create intuitive and interesting pieces of art.”
The Fleming Gallery exhibition of Georgina’s work will continue until October 28.
