TASIS students, faculty, and staff joined together on Friday, August 29th to celebrate the beginning of the new school year with Convocation and Founder’s Day Celebration 2014.
The ceremony began with a student representative from each grade level processing into the marquee holding a banner marking their graduating year, with older students helping the youngest children. In a colorful demonstration of the diverse nationalities of the TASIS community, other students followed carrying their native country’s flag.
To encourage and foster leadership skills, middle school students, Katherine F. and Benjamin A. were asked to be the Master and Mistress of Ceremonies and both spoke to the community with confidence and poise as they introduced the speakers to the stage. Speakers included, Headmaster, Mr. McBrien and Student Leader, Dimitrios G., who delivered inspiring speeches. Head of the Middle School, Mrs. Cross, recalled many fond memories from her early experiences at TASIS England in a tribute to TASIS Founder, Mrs. M. C. Fleming.
