TASIS students, faculty, and staff congregated today to celebrate the beginning of the new school year with a vibrant convocation ceremony.
Students from each grade level processed into the marquee with banners marking their graduating year, followed by national flags representing the diverse nationalities of the student population.
Headmaster McBrien addressed the community with a speech to inspire students and faculty and to launch another successful school year.
“This afternoon we come together as a community of learners including students, faculty, and staff who are all fortunate to be a part of TASIS England this year. As we gather together united, let me ask that we begin this school year with a commitment to care for one another, to encourage, to challenge, and to always be thankful. This is your year, your time to shine and to make a difference to the world.”
Student President, Alex Ambartsumian, spoke at the ceremony. He expressed his fondness for TASIS, and presented his fellow students with tips for a successful school year.
“One of the most important things I have learned from my time at TASIS is the value of relationships. Whether it be friends, teachers, coaches, parents, or our relationships with ourselves, each of these define who we are and leave a lasting footprint on our lives. The relationships we build at our school are the most important tools we have in going out into the world as confident, intelligent, and kind individuals.”
School Counsellor Mrs. Bagley concluded the ceremony by sharing some of her thoughts about the theme for the ceremony, wisdom:
“To each one of you here today, be courageous in your passions and pursuits. Remember to act with kindness, and perhaps you will find wisdom on your journey. In the words of our founder Mrs. Fleming, “Make a difference in the world. These are big hopes and dreams, but you have to hope big and dream big to have bigger dreams come true.”
