Thorpe Community Link (TCL), connects the TASIS community with local senior citizens. Members of TCL include upper school students who join voluntarily and faculty members, Mrs. Reinikainen, Mrs. Veryard-Arcay, and headmasters’ wife, Mrs. McBrien. During the school year, TCL students invite residents to afternoon teas and theatre events where they have the opportunity to get to know each other and become friendly neighbors.
Residents were invited to attend the first afternoon tea of the school year last week in the Salon, with many new people from the local community and some new students, who introduced themselves to the guests. Students served a delicious array of finger sandwiches, cakes, and drinks, while one musical student performed a selection of songs from The Sound of Music to entertain the group.
Activities Coordinator, Mrs. Reinikainen, was pleased to see everyone enjoying themselves together, commenting, “To look around this room and to see so many people from the Thorpe community interacting with our students and connecting the community brings to life the dream I had when Thorpe Community Link first began many years ago.”
